Hi there again. Today I'm sharing a cute little project that I made for my son's girlfriend for her birthday. I asked her what she wanted and she said paint me a cute girl!

100 Circles in 100 days project

Hello it's Peta here again on the blog today.

As part of my study into art therapy I have embarked on a project to create 100 circles in 100 days. The idea of this exercise is to encourage students to start using a circle a day, a simple shape, to represent how they are feeling each day. The circles evolve into a beautiful canvas over 100 days and before you know it students have a wonderful artwork that represents their life over the last 100 days!

Currently I have a bunch of students from all over the world doing this project with me right now. I'm loving using my pebeo acrylic paints and setaskrib markers to work wonders on the canvas. Here is where I am at right now.

I'm finding that sometimes i don't get a circle completed because i'm waiting for paint to dry! However, I know what I'm intending to do so as you can see i've started whiting out some circles to use as a background for the days painting or drawing. I've also used to scraps of fabric so far and on one it has words that meant something to me on the day i glued it on the canvas and the other was blank calico that i then used my Setaskrib marker to write on as i wanted words rather than pictures for the days' circle.

You can vary the sizes and orientation of the circles. Yesterday i used a felt round pot holder to paint an impression on the canvas. I do this because I love tea and i often sit my teapot on something similar to this.

Rejuvenating old tired jewellery with Pebeo Prisme Fantasy paints

Hello my crafty crusader peeps! I have the perfect project for girls for the school holidays, a way to simply and cheaply. I fell in love with these beautiful paints at a craft fair some time ago and now I get the opportunity to play with them and show you all how amazing they are!

Let me make this clear. These are NOT water based paints! They are enamel paints that need turpentine to clean up so do NOT use brushes, use only disposable toothpicks and implements and scrap paper to apply these paints. The honeycomb effects gradually appear as the paint cures but are not present at the time of application.

Painting pasta bowls with Peta

Hello Today I'm showing you a project I completed a months ago as I had a set of pasta bowls I'd picked up from a garage sale when I was newly married and they'd finally given up the ghost after 20 years of constant use. 

I sourced some plain white pasta plates and decided to use the same simple stripe pattern that I'd so loved from the old plates. The old plates had dark blue stripes but my kitchen colours are now black and red so I wanted to custom paint the new plates and continue on with the style of pasta eating my family has loved for over 20 years!

Don't they look great!

We use these pasta bowls about 2-3 times a week and they are just perfect to continue that hand painted tradition of the rustic pasta dishes I've always loved so much. 

This project uses a single colour pebeo porcelain paint and a matching pebeo porcelain 150 marker to complete the look. 

Remember to let these plates cure for 24 hours before popping them in a 150 degree oven for 35 minutes. Let them cool in the oven before taking the plates out. Do not place these plates in the dishwasher except on the eco option. I always hand wash these plates anyways as I can't fit as much in the dishwasher because of their curves sides.

Using Mepxy Markers and coloured pencils to create depth in your pictures

Earlier this year I experimented using a few different layering methods to colour an image. I had invested heavily in colour pencils for my Christmas gifts and wanted to find ways to use them with the other media I had on hand to create vibrant images with great depth of colour.

Today I'm going to give you some tips on how to combine Mepxy markers with some colour pencils to create a wonderfully vibrant and beautiful image. 

Here's my snap guide below to take you through some steps in the creation of this project. Just a work here. The peacock tail has by far the most work in it and for this particular image that's what took the longest time to create.

Letter Journals with Peta, Pebeo paints and Mepxy Markers

Hello Peta here again today. I though today I would introduce you all to a project I created last year called the Letter Journal Project. It's a small art journal swap where the emphasis is on 'lightweight' and it fits into a standard business size envelope. Traditionally we use copier paper in these journals to keep the weight down. This then present it's own challenges. How do we work on thin paper and also keep our heavy collage and no lumpy bumpy out of the picture?

That being said, I have found the Letter Journal Project to be extremely rewarding this last year. I have a full journal, where each letter journal is a signature. Here's my Letter Journal book for 2014.

So today I'm working in a letter journal that had a few blank pages in it that I wanted to have some fun with. I'm using pebeo acrylic paints with glazing medium and some old book pages and mepxy markers for a little contrast.

Hello It's Peta here. Today I'm teaching you a new technique. How to use Mepxy Markers on Canson Tracing paper. These markers are alcohol based so do work well on the non porous surface of the tracing paper. This technique creates a design that is translucent and that can be used on any art and crafting project. Today I'm incorporating this technique onto an art journal page. Below is my guide for creating the butterfly wings I'm using on my art journal page and there is also a full youtube video tutorial on the whole process from beginning to end.

Using Pebeo SetaSkrib markers and a stencil to create a one of a kind design.

Today I've used a stencil to start my design and used the Pebeo markers to colourise the design into something unique.

I used a stencil because that is an easy way for anyone to achieve the looks they desire and stencils are cheap and readily available.

It was a simple exercise to colour the design with the markers and in the video i show you different techniques in using the markers to create effects for your design.
